US Orders, import duty and tariffs 2025

On August 29th 2025, the US Government imposed new taxes (tariffs) on American consumers receiving goods from overseas.

At this moment, the standard tariff imposed on UK-made items like mine is 10%.

But these taxes are very hard to predict; the situation changes constantly, and the rules are inconsistently applied. Some big, expensive shipments get through without additional charges; some small inexpensive ones don't.

Courier firms are required to collect these taxes for the US government, but they take different approaches. Some firms collect the duty before they will deliver, others will deliver and then send a bill later.

They also sometimes add their own admin fee to cover the costs of handling these taxes on the government's behalf.

I am not authorised to collect taxes on behalf of the US Government.

So the buyer is responsible for paying these in their home country.

If you choose not to pay legitimate import charges, your shipment may be destroyed, sold on, or returned to me with hefty charges added.

For this reason, parcels that are not delivered, are returned to me, or are destroyed because of unpaid duties or taxes, are non refundable.

If you're concerned about having to pay duty or taxes, please contact your local import authorities before ordering.
